The Lake Theatre

The Lake Theatre is the first permanent Passion Play venue in Australia, located on the shores of Lake Moogerah in the Scenic Rim.

The Lake Theatre is available for use by other organisations for community purposes.

With an open-air amphitheatre that can hold 2 000 people, the Lake Theatre has proved itself to be a perfect venue, not only for the Passion Play, but also for open air concerts, including symphony orchestras, Big Band events, folklorico, country and western, music festivals, etc.

The purpose-built theatre incorporates the following features and facilities:

  • a Sea of Galilee for staging scenes involving water
  • olive grove and palm grove, to give a sense of the Holy Land
  • public toilet facility, with wheel chair access
  • catering facility
  • acting shed
  • dressing shed
  • costume and props storage facilities
  • lighting shed and infrastructure
  • sound infrastructure
  • praetorium
  • a walkway, waterfall and pond
